Altair Chemical produces potassium carbonate for the treatment of fermenters’ biogas, guaranteeing customers compliance with anti-pollution standards. In addition, this process allows the production of food grade CO2 for carbonated drinks.
The CO2 present in BIOGAS is absorbed by a solution of Potassium Carbonate (K2CO3) in the Absorption Column; Carbonate turns into Potassium Bicarbonate (KHCO3). The CO2 is then released into the Regeneration Column, where the Bicarbonate becomes Potassium Carbonate again due to the heat.
