Maximizing production capacities, strengthening under a single organization, and enhancing synergies through shared management of storage and logistics planning to streamline the sales processes.
These are the goals behind the creation of Altair Chemical, the new entity in the Italian chemical industry resulting from the merger of two Esseco Industrial companies: Altair Chimica in Saline di Volterra, Tuscany, acquired in 2011, and Hydrochem Italia in Pieve Vergonte, Piedmont, taken over from a crisis committee in 2019.
This continues the path of consolidation in the chlor-alkali market by Esseco Industrial, a division of Esseco Group, which provides products and services for the organic and inorganic chemical industry in 10 countries with over 770 employees and a turnover of 700 million euros achieved in 2022.
The acquisition of Hydrochem Italia in 2019 was already part of a broader design and strategy aimed at constant growth and innovation towards increasingly sustainable chemical production, not only environmentally and socially but also economically and organizationally, with Altair Chimica’s site always at the forefront in resource management and circular production economy.
“A merger aimed at growth and process optimization to create and enhance those synergies that will allow us to compete more decisively in the market,” states Roberto Vagheggi, General Manager of Esseco Industrial and CEO of the Chlor-Alkali division. “The two plants also share four productions: potassium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, sodium hypochlorite, and hydrochloric acid. These are products with significant volumes and are also dedicated to internal consumption within other Italian and European companies of Esseco Industrial. The merger will thus allow us to streamline all processes from production to sales to after-sales through new synergies and a renewed dialogue between the two plants,” he concludes.
