CAUSTIC POTASH
European legislation (2003/396/EC) has set the maximum acceptable level of chlorate in foods at 0.01 mg/kg. Altair Chemical, at its plant in Saline di Volterra (PI) – the first in Europe to have switched to membrane cell technology since 2008 – has patented an industrial process for the dechlorination of KOH (caustic potash).
